100 Meter Dash
Williamstown's Brooklyn Hammer sped away from the field to take the win in 12.56. She also clocked a 12.49 in the trials. Bishop Donahue's Elaysia Hill wasn't far back in 2nd at 12.68. No one else was under 13.30. One of my predicted placers was victim to one of the many false starts over the weekend.

200 Meter Dash
Williamstown's Madelin Gardner closed strongly to overtake Clay-Battelle's Hannah Carreon as both came in under 26 seconds. Gardner clocked at 25.62 to Carreon's 25.75. Bishop Donahue's Elaysia Hill was a strong 3rd with a 26.20. Doddridge's Sarah Ferguson also came in under 27 seconds. The top 6 were under 27.30.

400 Meter Dash
Williamstown's Madelin Gardner powered away from the field in the last 100 to take the dominating win. Her 58.74 won by nearly 3 seconds as she was the only one under 61 seconds. Madonna's Chloe Conner was the only other runner to go under 62 seconds with her 1:01.52. Tucker's Kelsey Kyle almost made that mark with a 1:02.06.

800 Meter Run
Magnolia's Lauren Cline led from start to finish, narrowly holding off Charleston Catholic's Lia Preston for the win, 2:29.37 to 2:29.60. They were the only ones under 2:30. Cline led the first lap at 1:12, followed by Tucker's Olivia Miller and Magnolia's Brianna Ritz with the same time. The Charleston Catholic trio of Lia Preston, Quincy McKown, and Peyton Keener were holding the 4th through 6th spots, respectively at 1:13. Those six held the placing positions throughout the 2nd lap. In the end, it was Cline holding off Preston and the closing Keener for the win. Keener and Miller came through under 2:31. McKown outkicked Ritz for 5th. The top 9 were all within 1.3 seconds of getting a place.

1600 Meter Run
Pocahontas' Melissa Murphy led the field through the first lap in 1:16. Just off her shoulder was Trinity's Abbie Barnette with the same time. Charleston Catholic's Payton Mullens was in 3rd with Magnolia's Brianna Ritz in 4th, Williamstown's Cami Mossor in 5th, and Williamstown's Shealee Mossor in 6th, all in 1:17. On the 2nd lap, Barnette moved to the front, just ahead of Mullens with both crossing at 2:43. Ritz was in 3rd at 2:44 with that time matched by Cami Mossor, Shealee Mossor, and Sherman's Amelia Sebok in 4th through 6th, respectively. At the end of the 3rd lap, Mullens moved to the front at 4:09, just ahead of Barnette and Ritz with the same time. Sebok had moved into 4th just ahead of Cami Mossor in 5th with both at 4:11. Charleston Catholic's Quincy McKown had moved into 6th at 4:18. On the final lap, Ritz made a brief surge to the lead, but Mullens took it back with about 270 meters to go and gradually pulled away to take the win by nearly 5 seconds with a 5:28.19. She was the only one under 5:30. Barnette came from behind to make the pass for 2nd in the last 30 meters. Ritz held the 3rd spot. Those two were the only other ones under 5:35. Sebok was the only other one under 5:40 in 4th. Mossor held off McKown for 5th.

3200 Meter Run
Charleston Catholic's Payton Mullens took the field through the first lap in 1:19. She was trailed closely by Tucker's Madison Mullenax wit the same time. Williamstown's Cami Mossor was in 3rd with Trinity's

Piper McLaughlin in 4th. Williamstown's Shealee Mossor was in 5th with Charleston Catholic's Hannah Gacek in 6th with each of those last four coming through in 1:20. On the 2nd lap, Mullens remained at the front at 2:49 and the field remained bunched up as Cami Mossor, Mullenax, and Shealee Mossor matched that time. McLaughlin was 5th and Gacek in 6th at 2:50. On the 3rd lap, Mullens continued to lead, coming through at 4:22. That was matched by Cami Mossor and Shealee Mossor in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. McLaughlin moved into 4th at 4:23 with Gacek in 5th at the same time. Sherman's Amelia Sebok matched that time in moving into 6th. At the midway point, Mullens remained in the lead at 5:54. Cami Mossor was holding 2nd at 5:55. McLaughlin moved into 3rd at 5:56. Sebok moved up to 4th at 5:57 along with Shealee Mossor in 5th. Gacek was in 5th at 5:58. It was still close through 5 laps with Mullens still leading at 7:33, but with that time being matched by McLaughlin and Cami Mossor in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Sebok was just a second behind in 4th at 7:34. Gacek was up to 5th in 7:35. Shealee Mossor had lost contact with the pack in 6th at 7:40. On the 6th lap, it continued to be close with Mullens retaining the lead at 9:10. Sebok had moved into 2nd, matching that time. Cami Mossor was in 3rd at 9:11. That group had started to separate from the field. McLaughlin was in 4th at 9:13. Gacek was in 5th at 9:19, and Shealee Mossor was holding 6th at 9:26. On the 7th lap, Mullens continued to lead at 10:46 with Sebok right behind at 10:47. They had gapped Cami Mossor who was 3rd in 10:52. McLaughlin was 4th in 10:54. Gacek was in 5th at 11:02. Mullenax had moved back into 6th at 11:12. On the final lap, Mullens ran away from Sebok to take the win by 8 seconds in 12:08.70 to Sebok's 12:16.71. Cami Mossor held onto 3rd in 12:23.10 with McLaughlin 4th at 12:28.72. Gacek was 5th at 12:39.36, and Mullenax held 6th at 12:47.61. No one else was under 13:00.

100 Meter High Hurdles
Doddridge's Sarah Ferguson set a State Meet Record in the preliminaries, and then broke it in the finals. And she had to, because Clay-Battelle's Hannah Carreon matched Ferguson's time from the prelims. Ferguson' 14.79 is the 8th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. This was Ferguson's 4th Championship in this event. Carreon's 14.84 is Tied for the 9th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and is the 2nd Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. In a really strong year for Class A Hurdles, Wheeling Central's Lindsey Baker finished a distant 3rd, but almost cracked the All-Time A-AA Top 10 list with her 15.36. Wheeling Central's Bailey Clark and Doddridge's Rosa Plaugher also broke the 16 second barrier, giving Class A five under 16 seconds. The top 7 were under 16.50.

300 Meter Low Hurdles
Doddridge's Sarah Ferguson took the lead over the 2nd hurdle and never looked back. Williamstown's Madelin Gardner gave chase but couldn't quite make up the ground. Ferguson missed the State Meet Record by just 0.03 with her 45.44. Gardner clocked a strong 45.89 for 2nd. Wheeling Central's Lindsey Baker and Tucker's Olivia Miller were both under 48 seconds in 3rd and 4th, respectively. The top 7 were under 50 seconds.

4x100 Meter Relay
A close battle saw Williamstown's Brooklyn Hammer, Ellie Gardner, Alexis Zide, and Hope Wilson hold off Wheeling Central and Clay-Battelle for the win as the three were separated by just 0.10 seconds. Williamstown clocked a 51.43 to Wheeling Central's 51.50 and Clay-Battelle's 51.53. Tyler Consolidated and Charleston Catholic were under 53 seconds.

4x200 Meter Relay
Williamstown's group of Brooklyn Hammer, Ally McMullen, Allie Robinson, and Alexis Zide took the event by nearly 0.7 seconds with their 1:50.51. Tyler Consolidated, Tucker, and Magnolia were under 1:52 in taking the next three spots. Only Clay-Battelle was under 1:53 among the rest of the field.

4x400 Meter Relay
After one leg Madonna was about even with Doddridge. After two legs, Madonna was in front. Tucker was running in 2nd. Charleston Catholic was in 3rd. Williamstown was in 4th. Doddridge was in 5th, and Tyler Consolidated was in 6th. The order was the same after three legs but with Doddridge and Tyler Consolidated about even in the battle for 5th. On the final leg, Madonna held off a late charge from Tucker. The Madonna foursome of Gianna Anile, Cameron Dowiak, Chloe Conner, and Emilie Pollard scored a State Meet Record time of 4:15.49. Tucker was just 0.6 seconds behind with a 4:16.09. Charleston Catholic was also under 4:20 in 3rd. No one else was under 4:25. Williamstown clocked a 4:25, and Doddridge held off Tyler Consolidated with both getting 4:27's.

4x800 Meter Relay
Charleston Catholic took the lead on the 1st leg at 2:32. Pocahontas was running 2nd at 2:35. Madonna was in 3rd also at 2:35. I think it was Tucker in 4th at 2:36. Williamstown was in 5th. After two legs, Charleston Catholic remained in front at 5:08 wit Madonna matching that time in 2nd place. Trinity was in 3rd at 5:14. Williamstown was in 4th at 5:15. Tucker was in 5th with a 5:16. Magnolia was in 6th at 5:17. On the 3rd leg, Charleston Catholic remained in the front at 7:42. Williamstown had moved into 2nd at 7:45. Trinity was in 3rd at 7:51. Madonna was in 4th at 7:56. Tucker was in 5th at 7:59. Tyler Consolidated was in 6th at 8:02. On the final leg, it was Charleston Catholic maintaining their lead and giving the squad of Lia Preston, Mary Katherine Kay, Peyton Keener, and Quincy McKown the win with a 10:11.74. Williamstown took a solid 2nd at 10:18.00. Trinity's 10:25.93 was the only other run under 10:30. Tucker moved to 4th with a 10:36.92. Magnolia kicked past Madonna for 5th with both hitting a 10:40. Only Tyler Consolidated among the rest of the field was under 11:00.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Tucker took control of the race on a huge 2nd leg from Elizabeth Nichols (assuming that order in the results is correct) and never looked back. The foursome of Kelsey Kyle, Elizabeth Nichols, Kylie Moore, and Olivia Miller took the event with a 1:06.80. Wheeling Central's 1:07.44 was the only other run under 1:09. No one else was under 1:10.

High Jump
St. Marys' Jenna Nichols and Magnolia's Bailey Estep cleared 5'2 to take the top two spots with Nichols winning the tie-breaker. Williamstown's Victoria Buckley was the only other jumper to clear 5'0. 6 others cleared 4'10 with Union's Colleena Burdock, Valley Fayette's Abby Buchan and Doddridge's Haley Stephenson getting a tie for 4th. Of the 9 jumpers that cleared 4'10, all return next year, with 8 of the 9 being Freshmen or Sophomores.

Pole Vault
Williamstown's Madelin Gardner soared over 10'0 to win by 1 1/2 feet. Erica Amos gave Williamstown a 1-2 finish. Charleston Catholic's Catherine Casingal also cleared 8'6 to get 3rd. Tyler Consolidated's Caroline Bantug and Doddridge's Emily Hileman were the others to top 8'0 in taking 4th and 5th, respectively. Only 6 vaulters cleared the opening height.

Long Jump
Doddridge's Sarah Ferguson won by nearly 6" with a leap of 15'10.50. Only 4 1'2" separated the next 4 places with Tyler Consolidated teammates Hillary Casteel and Isis Moore took 2nd and 3rd, respectively with Doddridge's Haley Stephenson in 4th. East Hardy's Maria Mullin was the other jumper over 15'0. Two of my predicted placers didn't make the final.

Tucker's Aiyana Kachmarek won the event by nearly 2' with a throw of 34'5.50. St. Marys took the next two spots with Whitney Jamison and Laura Taylor getting 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Only Charleston Catholic's Gina Marks was over 31' among the rest of the field. Only five throwers hit 30'.

Tucker's Aiyana Kachmarek took the win by over 10' with her toss of 120'9. Valley Fayette's Abby Buchan was 2nd with a throw of 110'0. The Williamstown pair of Rylee Cunningham and Melissa Cieslewski each threw over 103 in taking 3rd and 4th, respectively. Doddridge's Gabby Glaspell and Pocahontas' Fredricah Gardner each threw 98'9 in taking 5th and 6th, respectively. The top 8 were over 95'.
